It covers the art, technology, labor, and
resistance that happens after dark, often
unnoticed. In underground movements
and acts of creativity, Vigil captures mini
scenes that shape our future.

WORDMARK + ITERATIONS
The layered glitch effect references encrypted communications, surveillance evasion, and digital interference visual language borrowed from communities operating in the shadows VIGIL documents.
ARTICLE SKETCHING/IDEATION
I started with taking pencil to paper. quickly sketching, simple, shape-based layouts. These layouts were then taken digital, still only using basic forms, but substiting some type for headlines, subheadings, and bodycopy. These sketches laid the foundation for the entire magazine.
ARTCILE LAYOUT BUILDING/ITERATION
VIGIL utilizes an editorial layout system using
color-coded articles, documentary photography,
and bold typography. Developed pacing strategy
that balances dense investigative text with visual
breaks. Each spread responds to specific content
needs while maintaining systemic cohesion.
